Howe Automotives - logo design

This client approached me and wanted a unique logo for his business. The client is a qualified mechanic who operates a small workshop. He told me that he has seen a lot of other local mechanics using generic car related logos and advised me he did not want something that is similar to anybody else.

The client wanted something that was unique to him. Through an extended conversation with the client I found out that the owl is an animal that both he and his son had great admiration for.
I decided to incorporate the owl into the clients logo as I figured this would make it unique to him. The clients surname would serve as the main name of the business so I felt it was good to incorporate something that his son had admiration for too.

The owls ears are designed to have the appearance of the head of a spanner / wrench, a tool which is commonly used my mechanics. This gave my client a unique logo that has meaning to him and his family but also has an element that relates to the type of work he does.
The logo works in colour, black and white. It also possesses a versatility that allows the icon or typography to be used as their own entities and still be recognisable.
